French artist Evenn returns to Piston Recordings with the superb three track EP titled Parental Advisory, which comes fresh off the back of his debut with us, Pacific Ave EP. Evenn is a name already associated with quality music. He’s had his very first full release in 2018 on Henry Street Music which was quickly followed by another gem just a few months later. For 2020, he’s lined up a few more releases on various labels and he’s beginning to cause quite a stir, gaining a lot of attention. Great to have him back once again.

Parental Advisory opens with a warm, moving pad which is joined by a rhythmic drum section to get the toes tapping. The pad intensifies, becoming infectious as it weaves a cosmic pattern. A groovy sax adds a layer of spice to the groove as a plucky bassline rounds off a tight construction. Wonderfully rich and mesmerizing, just the tonic to keep the floors moving, a must have.

Deep Therapy intros with a classic punchy kick and crispy hi hat combi. Warm chords fade up along with a bouncy analogue style bassline. Striking phased pianos come though, adding energy and drive to the track while a catchy club style vocal is introduced to be the icing on the cake. A superbly crafted slice that will not disappoint.

Way Up rounds up this solid EP with a heavier kind of groove. Tougher kick drums and shuffling percussions lead as mesmeric pads rise in the background. Infectious vocal shots cut through the sound before metallic stabs come through. A deep, pumping bassline leads us to the break where bright piano chords take us on a new trajectory before the deeper elements return, combining effortlessly for a solid, groovy climax. Top-notch stuff, not to be missed.
