As the emerging golden light of Springtime shimmers into our awareness, J.P. Remillard aka Pheek reveals a vast treasure-trove of untold soundscapes in the form of an 8-track LP entitled Returning Home. This surprising collection of sonic lore is directly extrapolated from Pheek’s concept of Home existing not as a physical destination, but as a unique, reoccurring mindset. Returning Home fluants astounding interplay between low-frequency domination and impossible moving textures- giving the listener a kaleidoscopic wonder-ride infused with dark spells and initiate scenes of contemplation. Chugging techno grooves decorate fragmented percussive phrases, which nudge forth melodic structure in a discrete fashion, suggesting treats for the savvy listener. Pheek’s playful themes effortlessly penetrate beyond obvious hooks or shiny trends, forcing listeners into a more dedicated headspace, where the only guide is the gaping rift between the unknown and the unexpected.
