Permanent Vacation label head Tom Bioly doesn’t put out much material, but as Heartbreak Hotel, his latest release as TB, so effortlessly demonstrates, his approach is clearly focused on quality rather than quantity. The title track is a low-slung electronic disco groove, led by warm and emotive synths, while on “Hello Moon”, he explores tripped out house music, underpinned by warbling acid lines. Clearly, Bioly believes in following the mellow, understated path towards dance floor seduction and on “Glitter”, this takes the form of a pulsating rhythm, while on “Lilac”, the German producer takes inspiration from the early releases of Traum and Trapez for an ethereal, tranced out minimal track.
