Earlier in 2017, Bristol based sample manipulator turned lo-fi deep house sort Scissorwork set a few tongues wagging with an intriguing debut 12″. Here the cheeky scamp follows it up with an EP for Bobby Donny that’s arguably even better. His versatility is on display from the start, when the bass-heavy, sample-house dustiness of the Ross From Friends-ish “Homewrecker” is immediately followed by “Radiator”, a wonderfully wonky, MPC style workout that sits somewhere between skewed bass music and Flying Lotus. “Midnight Boys Choir”, a wonderfully deep and crackly chunk of lo-fi house bliss, is probably the pick of the bunch, though some DJs may prefer Frits Wentik’s chunkier, dub-tinged remix of the same track.
