Massimo DaCosta and Vernon Bara AKA Raw District, have built up an impressive string of releases for acclaimed labels like Crosstown Rebels, Moon Harbour and Innervisions, so it’s a real scoop to catch the guys for a brand new single on Flying Circus recordings. The Belgian duo are certainly no strangers to the scene, having produced individually and together since the turn of the millennium, and whose music has featured heavily in the DJ sets of Luciano, Ricardo Villalobos, Jamie Jones, Mark Farina and DJ Sneak, to name but a few.
The bass heavy rumblings of ‘Mystery’ certainly leap out of the speakers, as the precision drumbeats and ricocheting percussion weave their magic across the track’s tenure. A lone female monologue wraps around the hypnotizing groove without cluttering the minimal and dubby arrangement.
The energy levels are ramped up noticeably on ‘Beside You’, with its spiraling bassline and towering synth sweeps yielding an infectious spirit and intensity as a repetitive male vocal refrain and warm keys follow the bassline melody.
