With releases on Kling Klong and Moon Harbour already in his catalogue, Vangelis Kostoxenakis is becoming a fast-rising name in tech-house. “Bills”, released on Dirtybird, is exactly the kind of release that label owner Claude Von Stroke will play. The title track features a ghetto style vocal urging the recipient to ‘pay my bills, bitch’, as the Greek producer drops rolling snares and a jacking, percussive groove. The addition of hip-hop scratches only serves to augment the track’s party mood. On “Gifted Generation”, Kostoxenakis opts for a more contemporary flavour. Jarring riffs, a looped vocal sample and a dense, swinging rhythm all add up to create a vivid house track.
