“The 2016 polls come to a close with the RA staff’s tracks of the year.
These are the tracks that defined our year. Some are bombs that fuelled house parties, club nights and home mix sessions among friends; others held busy dance floors in a trance with crafty grooves, bleeps and blobs. There are ambient and experimental sketches enjoyed in cosy living rooms or under blankets, the kind of tunes that only seem to get put on when there’s no one else around. There are plenty of songs, too-less about beats and more about melody and strong, emotional themes. Wherever the tracks on this list were heard, they stayed with people long after the lights went up, the laptop was closed or the headphones were put away.”
